AI enters that relationship carrying a lot of weight: the technology is already in students' hands, the institutions are under pressure to respond, and the stakes for getting the response wrong are cumulative over a student's career.

Student data privacy, not as a footnote
FERPA is not a compliance checkbox. It is a statement about who owns the record of a student's educational life. Our canonical architecture keeps student data inside the institution's boundary and does not require telemetry to Neuraphic-hosted services for core functionality. For districts and universities that want a hosted arrangement, we can provide one under contract; for institutions that cannot, we support private deployment patterns as a first-class option, not as an enterprise upcharge.
We do not train our models on student data. We do not build advertising profiles of students. We do not sell access to classroom conversations. These are not concessions; they are the default.

Our inference-time defense product Prion is designed to enforce constraints structurally, at the architecture level, rather than through prompt instructions that can be argued with. When Prion sits in front of a tutoring model, the guardrails are not a suggestion.
For classroom use, we think the honest framing is that guardrails should be conservative by default and adjustable by the educator, not by the student. That is how we build.
Continuous architecture defense
Beyond classroom guardrails, Claeth operates as an autonomous cybersecurity analyst to map and secure FERPA-bound legacy infrastructure. School districts and university campuses often route traffic through decentralized LMS networks and vulnerable research dependencies. Claeth continuously audits these deployments internally, testing patches via ephemeral shadow twins without requiring telemetry to Neuraphic.
Research infrastructure
University research programs increasingly need access to capable models inside institutional trust boundaries — for computational social science, for domain-specific scientific work, for privacy-sensitive studies that cannot share data with a hosted vendor. Our developer tooling, the CLI and Workers, is built to let research engineering teams stand up the infrastructure they need without surrendering the data or the decision loop.
Academic integrity
We take the academic integrity conversation seriously, and we believe the honest answer is that no detector is a substitute for pedagogy. That said, institutions deploying AI into their own workflows should be able to understand how it was used — which is a design problem our architecture supports natively, through decision traces and auditable inference logs. Faculty and academic integrity offices should have the information they need; students should have the protections the institution promises them.

We operate a FERPA-aware posture today and are working toward the attestations education customers look for in a long-term vendor. Our Trust Center publishes the current state of our program. Our safety philosophy and Responsible Scaling Policy apply to every deployment, including educational ones.
